Esperanza High School, home of the Aztecs, opened its doors in 1973 to serve the needs of a growing community. The Esperanza attendance area was largely citrus groves and cattle grazing land. The school's population has grown from 923 students in 1973 to over 1,800 students today. The area served by Esperanza includes portions of the cities of Anaheim, Yorba Linda and Placentia as well as a section of unincorporated county territory.
